Welcome to the official web site of The Clay Connection, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our members are clay artists at all skill levels, from beginners to hobbyists to full-time professionals.

Established in 1991, The Clay Connection’s mission--to promote clay arts in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC--is accomplished through four main goals:

  • Educating members about the art, styles, and creation techniques of pottery.
  • Promoting community awareness and appreciation of pottery as a hobby, a profession, and an art form.
  • Exposing members to the local, regional, national and international community of potters.
  • Pursuing other lawful purposes not inconsistent with the corporation’s status as tax exempt under I.R.C. section 501(c)(3).

The intent of this web site is to provide information on our mission, goals, organization, activities, and upcoming events. A separate, members-only area offers a convenient method to provide beneficial information to the membership as well as access to membership benefits.
